This workshop is focused on increasing the community's capacity to support women with disabilities experiencing violence. Topics include: What does violence look like for women with disabilities; understanding human rights and legislation; what services and supports are available; Disability and its intersection with gender and violence. Making Control & Choice REAL - Supporting Self-Advocacy
In this course you will learn about; what is advocacy, self-advocacy and supported decision making. What skills and strategies that assist people to develop their self-advocacy aids. Human rights for people with disabilities- what are they and how do you safeguard them. How you can balance duty of care, dignity of risk and self-advocacy all together. Includes local resources & information needed.
Their Lives, Their Rights - Human Rights and People with Disabilities Workshop
Learn to understand human rights for people with disabilities and how they may be applied every day. Gain confidence to support people with disabilities making their own decisions. How can you to promote human rights to support self-advocacy.
Inclusion and Awareness Training
Understand more about the experiences of people with disabilities, and how to be inclusive, collaborative, and comfortable around people with disabilities. Training also includes the basics on human rights and legislative frameworks. This training is suitable for anyone interacting with people with disabilities, whether as a colleague, a support worker, or socially.
